Can I get Viagra over the counter?

Viagra, once available to the public by prescription only, is now classified as a pharmacy medicine. Patients cannot purchase Viagra or generic sildenafil over the counter like aspirin or cold medicine, but they do not need to visit their doctor for access anymore, either.

A licensed medical provider can now prescribe Viagra directly to patients after assessing their medical history, medication list, and general health. In the UK, potential patients can simply chat with a pharmacist and then buy Viagra Connect – a low dose, 50 mg dose of sildenafil. In the US, potential patients need to complete a brief online health questionnaire to determine if Viagra is a good option for improving their sexual health.

How did we get here?

After a public discussion in 2017, the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) decided to allow Pfizer, which manufactures Viagra, to create an over-the-counter version of the drug. The MHRA said their decision would hopefully prevent illegal sales of counterfeit ED treatments from unlicensed sites.

During the research phase of the study, the MHRA said many men reported feeling embarrassed sitting in a doctor’s office discussing their sexual performance. To avoid the awkwardness, these men were purchasing harmful knockoffs like jellies and creams that made false claims about active ingredients.

Is buying Viagra from a medical provider safe?

When you decide to buy from MyDrHank, you’ll be asked to provide an honest self-assessment of your medical history – same as visiting a new doctor. Based on your responses, the medical provider will determine your eligibility, and which dosage is right for you.

Just like taking any over-the-counter medication, purchasing Viagra or sildenafil comes with risks, especially if you aren’t honest about health history or current medications. However, some of the largest and most-trusted regulatory agencies in the modern world have deemed Viagra safe enough for men of all ages, pending a brief assessment.

Once approved, you can enroll in a subscription plan that suits your budget and needs. No need to ever visit a doctor or brick-and-mortar pharmacist for your Viagra ever again.

Get started with the Troche, a dissolvable lozenge that combines the active ingredients in both Viagra and Cialis.
